Frequently asked questions

Why should I use a sauna and what are the potential benefits?

  • Improves circulation: Increases blood flow, which can help with muscle recovery and overall cardiovascular health.

  • Detoxification: Promotes sweating, helping the body eliminate toxins and impurities.

  • Relieves stress: Encourages relaxation by reducing cortisol levels and promoting the release of endorphins.

  • Enhances skin health: Opens pores and flushes out impurities, leaving the skin refreshed and rejuvenated.

  • Eases muscle and joint pain: Soothes sore muscles, reduces inflammation, and alleviates joint stiffness.

  • Boosts immune system: Regular sauna use may enhance immune response by stimulating white blood cell production.

  • Improves sleep quality: Helps relax the body and mind, potentially leading to deeper, more restful sleep.

  • Supports weight loss: Increases heart rate and metabolism, which can aid in burning calories.

  • Enhances respiratory health: Steam and heat can help clear sinuses and improve breathing.

  • Promotes mental clarity: Encourages relaxation, reducing mental fatigue and improving focus.

These benefits can vary depending on individual health conditions and frequency of sauna use. Always consult with a healthcare provider if unsure.

When should I avoid the sauna?

Consider avoiding or consulting a healthcare professional before using a sauna if you:

  • Have cardiovascular issues

  • Are pregnant

  • Suffer from respiratory problems

  • Experience dehydration or heat sensitivity

  • Take certain medications

  • Feel dizzy or lightheaded

  • Have recent injuries or surgery

  • Consume alcohol or drugs

  • Have Epilepsy or seizure disorders

If any of these apply to you, it's best to consult your doctor before using a sauna to ensure your safety.

Ilo Sauna cannot accept responsibility for customers with the above conditions or in the above situations.

What do I need to bring with me to my sauna session?

To maximise your time, please arrive in your swimwear ready for the sauna. You will also need:

  • Two towels (one to sit on in the sauna for hygiene reasons and one to dry yourself with. If you have a Dry robe… other brands are available or hooded towel,we recommend you bringing that too)

  • Water to rehydrate yourself during your session

  • Easy to put on footwear such as flip flops or Crocs

  • Your jewellery may get hot, so you may want to remove this before you arrive

Where can I put my belongings?

There will be buckets available by the deck chairs. We are in an enclosed area but we recommend you not bringing any valuables with you. Ilo Sauna is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or forgotten items; please ensure all personal belongings are secured.

What time should I arrive at the sauna?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your session so you’re ready and raring to go! Jack or Sophie will give you a briefing before you start.

How many other people will be in the sauna with me?

There will be a maximum of 7 other sauna users. Please note: we are currently only offering mixed sauna sessions so you may be sharing with all genders.

Where can I cool off?

We recommend stepping outside in the first instance to cool off, hydrate and acclimatise. We have our DIY bucket showers which will give you an instant refresh. If you’d like to use our Urban Ice Tribe bath, you must have a quick bucket shower before you take the plunge for hygiene reasons.

How long should I stay in the sauna?

Listen to your body. We recommend taking it steady during your first session whilst you get used to the heat. It is not a competition. But in general we recommend no longer than 15-20 minutes in one stint.

Where can I get changed?

We have a pop up changing tent available. But for you Dry Robe and hooded towel enthusiasts out there, we recommend bringing this to your session to give you options on where to change. We recommend you arrive at your session in your swimwear to make the most of your time with us.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens but we are also a micro business so cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance of your appointment. We cannot offer a refund for late cancellations.

We all love the great British weather so some days we may have to cancel sessions. If this is the case we will refund you your session as soon as possible or change it to another day.
